Lake Minnewanka (Lake of the Water Spirits) is a mere 15 minutes from Banff. At 15 miles (22 km) in length, Minnewanka is the largest lake in Banff National Park. Lake Minnewanka offers a new dimension to fly-fishing. Fly-fishing for lunker Lake Trout. In recent years some exceptional fly-fishing opportunities have been revealed. These denizens of the deep can often be found quite shallow, particularly during the first part of the summer. Pounding the shore with weighty streamers or plying the depths with nymphs can reveal some incredible results. From the decks of our 23.5 ft cruisers, with full, roomy, walk-around access, shooting long casts is a pleasure.
Lake Minnewanka provides excellent fishing for wild fish, and our clients have caught Lake Trout (up to 40 lbs/17 kg), Rocky Mountain Whitefish (to 3lbs/1.6 kg), and occasional Bull, Cutthroat and Brown Trout
The season for fishing runs from May 22nd to September 6th.
Offering 4.5 and 6.5 hour Private Charters, departing morning, mid-day or evening.
Our Guides, with the combined experience of in excess of 70 years of guiding expertise, are unrivalled in knowledge of the Lake.
We actively promote "CPR" catch, photograph and release. However, anglers are allowed a limit of 2 fish per license.
