
Alberta's Bow River is one of the finest trout rivers in the world. The headwaters are found in Banff National Park, the river then flows east through the front ranges of the Canadian Rockies, then the foothills, to the prairies beyond. The fish in the Bow are wild and self-sustaining, Brown Trout, Rainbows and Bull Trout, to 30 inches, have been landed.We specialize in Guiding on the Upper Bow, within the mountains. 40 km (25 mi) of Catch & Release waters.
When incorporating multi-day packages we will fish various stretches from Banff to Calgary, including the Lower Bow.
This service is available April through October.
These are private day trips with highly experienced professional guides.
We employ very stable and highly maneuverable MacKenzie River drift boats that can seat two or three anglers plus the guide.
All gear can be provided, including complete fly and/or spin fishing gear, waders and custom tied flies.(At no extra charge)
We will provide additional rods in order that we have a complete assortment to choose from. At least three rods per angler is a must.
Our guides are expert instructors, and will give "Top Notch" instruction. What better place for a novice to learn how to fly fish or spin fish - in a wild, free-flowing river, surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery. Expert anglers can gain too, as many well kept secrets can be revealed.
Our clients have caught Brown and Bull Trout (up to 30 inches), Rainbows (to 26 inches), Rocky Mountain Whitefish (to 24 inches), and the occasional Cutthroat, Brook, and Lake trout.
The average trip length is 7-8 hours on 7km (5 miles) of the river in catch & release waters.
Transportation from your accommodations in Banff is available, or meet in Canmore at the site of departure. (15 minutes East of Banff)
The Bow River is a primary corridor and home to many varieties of wildlife, and floating down this beautiful river presents many photographic opportunities.
